Frequently asked questions

Can you shoot off your tripods?

Yes for sure! Now, we are very clear with our customers that we do not make tripods solely for shooting; our goal is to make an all around tripod that is great for hunting - which performs its main role in glassing, and then for shooting. That being said, we have shot 100's of rounds off of our tripod models without issue, but they are not made as durable as a true 5lb+ shooting tripod - because you have to pack them around in the mountains and weight is also a concern.

The Backcountry Lite Tripod is going to be great for those on extended backcountry trips where weight is the #1 concern. I personally carry this tripod instead of a bipod for mountain hunting situations. With the included short center column you lose some versatility and height for glassing, but you can shoot prone as low as 5.5" off the ground, or as high as 37.5" for seated and kneeling shots (both of those assume the use of the Backcountry Lite Ball Head in conjunction with the tripod.

The Frontcountry will be an ideal all around hunting tripod for those shorter trips where weight isn't the #1 goal, but instead features and stability take precedent. The Frontcountry tripod has a center column that can be separated in the field with the built in hex key in the weight hook. Simply remove the weight hook and disassemble the tripod center column (reference this video for how to - https://www.instagram.com/p/C8cCDqMJd88/ )

With the short center column on the Frontcountry tripod you can shoot prone as low as 8" off the ground, or as high as 58" for seated, kneeling and even standing shots (both of those assume the use of the Frontcountry Ball Head in conjunction with the tripod).

Please reach out if you have questions on which model is best for you.

What size Bino Clamp do I need?

The Bino Clamp comes in 6 sizes to fit nearly every make and model of binocular on the market. To find your size check out our COMPATIBILITY page.

If your model isn't listed on the compatibility page, we still likely have a size that fits your binos, but just haven't had our hands on your exact model yet to test fit. In that case, head over to our SIZING page to get some quick measurements in about 30 seconds that will get what size you need.

How do I setup my Frontcountry Tripod and Ball Head?

For mounting the ball head to the tripod - simply thread the ball head onto the top of the tripod. Lock down the panning base and tighten as much as you can. Then raise the center column up, and on the bottom side of the top plate of the center column there is a small set screw. Tighten this set screw so that it locks the ball head into place, and then you are good to go! For this you can use the included hex keys that come with the tripod, or if you remove the weight hook from the bottom of the tripod it also has a built in hex key.

For removing the lower section of the center column to use it as a short center column - first remove the ball head (loosen small set screw, then unthread ball head). The you need to remove the top plate of the center column, there is a small set screw perpendicular to the axis of the center column. Loosen this and then you can unthread the top plate. Then insert the hex key (or weight hook) down into the center of the center column and there is a small nit the hex key fits into and you unthread in 3-5 turns and the lower part of the center column will come off. Then reassemble!

How do I remove the lower section of the center column on the Frontcountry Tripod?

For removing the lower section of the center column to use it as a short center column - first remove the ball head (loosen small set screw, then unthread ball head). The you need to remove the top plate of the center column, there is a small set screw perpendicular to the axis of the center column. Loosen this and then you can unthread the top plate. Then insert allen key (or use built in allen key in weight hook) down into the center of the center column and there is a small nut the allen key fits into and you unthread in 3-5 turns and the lower part of the center column will come off. Then reassemble!

How do I mount the Ball Head to the Tripod so it wont unthread?

For mounting the ball head to the tripod - simply thread the ball head onto the top of the tripod. Lock down the panning base and tighten the ball head on as much as you can. Then raise the center column up, and on the bottom side of the top plate of the center column there is a small set screw. Tighten this set screw so that it locks the ball head into place, and then you are good to go! For this you can use the included allen keys that come with the tripod in a small bag, or on the Frontcountry tripod if you remove the weight hook from the bottom of the tripod it also has a built in allen key!

Do you have a rotational mount for the Swarovski ATC?

We don't have one for the Swaro ATC at the moment - we started working on one back in spring of 23 and just haven't found that it works to our standards. The ATC has a sharp taper right where the mount would sit, and whenever it's loosened, the spotter slides down and moves, causing you to have to fuss with it every time. So instead of releasing this product we decided to hold off and try to work on something better. We will continue to work on it, but nothing currently on the docket in the near future!

What is your warranty?

We offer a 3 year warranty against manufacturer defects. Any breakage of the product that is due to user misuse or wear and tear won't be covered under this policy. That being said, we always take care of our customers. Any of our gear that breaks due to normal use will be covered, and anything that can be fixed with replacement parts  will be replaced at a reasonable cost, and we stock replacement parts to get you back up and running as soon as possible.
